BACK TO GARDEN OF THE GODS 6-22-09

There's something about the Garden of the Gods that keeps drawing me back. It is so stunning, so wild, so beautiful.....

This time the Yucca was in full bloom. It is very profuse, not only in the Garden but in the many fields we passed on the way to Colorado Springs. I'm sure the ranchers consider it a weed as it takes over the fields. The spikey leaves are very sharp.

Bill took this picture of me standing in front of the infamous "scrub oak" of Colorado. This is about all the taller it gets. It's nothing like the mighty oak trees of Pennsylvania. Even the acorns are small, about the size of a pea.

Here's Bill getting a close up look at Pike's Peak.

This was the destination of our hike today, the Siamese Twins rock formation. Notice the hole in the middle bottom of the formation. It is actually bigger than it looks.

Bill is sitting in the hole with Pike's Peak in the background.

Barb resting on the rocks with the Peak in the background.

The cactus are also just starting to bloom. Here is a beautiful yellow one. The flowers of Colorado are blooming everywhere you look.
