Taos, New Mexico is a very colorful, artsy town. This scene was painted on the side of an adobe building in the center to town. Most of the buildings are old adobe; it's like being in another country.
This is the Kit Carson home and museum where the mountain man/army general/Masonic lodge member lived in the mid 1800's.
The courtyard beind the home was where most of the daily living activities took place. The children played here and as you can see from the presence of the horno, cooking for the family was also done here. Kit Carson is buried about 2 blocks from the Plaza area.
The plaza area surrounds a small park about the size of a city block. Shops and restaurants abound around the plaza.
Route 64 going through Taos is lined with adobe buildings, many original. It has the look of an old west town, which it is!
